Faith. It is the basis of all religion, for it is faith in something larger than oneself that draws people to a common belief. Faith. It is a necessity in any functional society, for it creates the environment for citizens to rely upon their leadership. Faith. It is a key in any deep and enduring relationship, for it provides the fertile soil that feeds a lifetime of growing together. Faith. It is critical in the bringing together of two at-odds parties, for it provides a bridge that both parties may equally travel upon. Faith. It is a staple of our lives – so how do we make it firm, unshakable and permanent?

There are some things from the days of the earliest Christian church that we read about, find inspiration from but rarely take the time to do ourselves. Fasting and praying are a particular example – these combined activities are sprinkled throughout the Old and New Testaments, yet they receive very little attention from us now. What is there about these activities that provoked such spirituality in so many of our spiritual heroes? Why fast? Why pray? Why combine them?

Sometimes no matter how hard we try, there are just some things in life that we are not capable of seeing. Whether our blind spots are caused by personal prejudice or experience, ignorance, our personality type or the circles with which we associate, we all fall into the trap of blind spots. So, if having blind spots is the disease, what is the cure? While we are not in a position of being able to fix such issues, we are certainly in a position to focus on the godly, scriptural principles that can fix such issues! So, what’s better than that?

Jesus taught us about many things. He taught us how to live, what to focus on, how to be a good neighbor, how to be selfless. He taught us what the most and least important things are. He taught us the simplicity of faith and the magnificence of faith in God. Jesus also taught us about being chosen of God and all that such choosing entails. On this prorgram we will look at what Jesus taught us about the chosen nation of Israel by use of the example of a fig tree. This is a part of his teaching that rarely gets much attention…

As Christians, we all love to read and recount the marvelous accounts of Jesus working miracles. We are inspired by his compassion and his ability to change the lives of those whom he touched. Today we want to once again find that inspiration, but our path to it will be somewhat different as we will recount the incredible story of a woman who was called a miracle worker in her day. She touched one life – she changed one life and through that change, she touched the world. What a great picture of Jesus!

Hate is an immensely strong emotion. It can ruin relationships, perpetuate untruths, create rage and feed the fire of war. It is because of hate that much of the good in this world is not recognized, and it is because of hate that many in this world are truly unhappy. Did God create hate? Yes, He did! So, if God created hate, when is it a godly time for us to hate? Stay tuned!

We are free. We have liberty. We can speak our minds, make choices about our lives and be an influence on the influencers. Because of these things, we are truly among the most fortunate people to live on this earth today. As a matter of fact we are among the most fortunate people to ever live on this earth. The United States of America grants us these freedoms. How did the founders of this country get so smart?

Several weeks ago we began a conversation about how our lives bear fruit and how important it is to know what that fruit represents and how to cultivate it. We began to walk through the fruit of the spirit for the fifth chapter of Galatians, taking a tour of what God expects from us relating to our character growth as we follow Christ. Today, the tour continues, and as with any tour, it is important to stay with the group so you don’t miss out!

Politics! For some of us the very word elicits a shiver and a feeling of frustration and disappointment. Are we really so power hungry and immature that we need to demonize those who disagree, that we need to exaggerate our own point of view and win at the cost of our own integrity? The more we know about the political game, the more it seems to be about agenda instead of the will of the people. Should Christians be involved in this arena? Does the political world need a Christian perspective? Do Christians need politics?
