Friday was the day to celebrate love! Valentine’s day! From the little candy hearts that say “Be Mine” to the big box of chocolates, from the gifts and the cards to the dinners out and the special time together, it was a day of appreciation, a day of expression and a day to be perhaps more vulnerable than normal – not to mention a day that retailers live for! So, what is love – what is marriage? Do they still go together like a…you know…So, how are we doing these days with love – not just with one day of celebrating, but with our everyday living in love?

Promises, promises! We have all made them, heard them, kept them and maybe even broken them. Promises have always been an integral part of the fabric of any society, for they are truly the basis of trust and loyalty. When promises are kept, life is better and less lonely and when they are broken life gets to be broken as well. So, if promises are so important, then why are they so undervalued today?

A few weeks ago, we began to unfold one of the greatest Bible prophecies ever spoken – the prophecy that Jesus himself spoke relating to his return. We talked about that return was a process and how his eventual revealing would be similar to a sunrise. We talked about how it was built upon the sacrificial work of his First Advent to pay the price for sin and how the Second Advent was to reclaim the world from Satan. A few weeks ago, we opened up the ever volatile topic of gender roles, the Bible and the 21st century. From what most of us know about the Bible, it sure doesn’t seem to fit in today’s world when it comes to defining men, women and their relationships today. In this program we will continue to look at several Scriptures that sound harsh in their treatment of women as well as focusing on the questions: What did Jesus do? How did Jesus treat women and did the Apostles after him follow his lead?

It was about 2,000 years ago when Jesus walked this earth as a man to fulfill the necessary requirements of justice and give his life as a ransom price for Adam and therefore for all mankind. We see that sacrifice as the pivot point of human history – and it was, but Jesus himself assured us that his work to reconcile this world to God was in fact NOT completed at that time. Jesus said that he would come back to finish what he had started and that there would be certain signs in the world to determine when this would happen. So, can we read the signs of his return?

Oh boy! Here we go, right into the belly of the beast called equality! Why do we call it a beast? Because it does appear that gender equality is grossly misrepresented and misunderstood! Belief in equality is key, but should men and women, in all things, be consistently measured with the same yardstick? We ARE different – science proves this! So, what gender roles are biblical? Should these roles be updated – after all, the world is an entirely different place than it was back then – or is it? Stay with us!
